In 1989, owner Chris Warner founded Earth Treks, Inc. Since then, the climbing school has taught over 20,000 people to climb each year and the mountaineering guide service has lead over 200 international expeditions.
In 1997 Earth Treks opened its first of three indoor climbing centers. The Columbia Climbing Center boasts 44 ft. high walls and 20,000 sq. ft. of varied climbing terrain with newly expanded bouldering, top rope, lead, and fitness areas.
Earth Treks' second facility in Timonium, MD was opened in 2002. The towering, state-of-the-art climbing walls and bouldering area have hosted many competitions including three National Championships.
Earth Treks Climbing Center in Rockville, MD first opened its doors in 2005 and in early 2012, completed an expansion that more than doubled the existing facility size. With more than 38,500 square feet of climbing, it is now the LARGEST indoor climbing wall in the country.
