KWWL is the only station with newsrooms in Waterloo, Dubuque, Cedar Rapids and Iowa City. We've got you covered.
KWWL is owned by Allen Media Broadcasting, and was started as a radio station -- KWWL-AM -- in 1947 by Ralph J. McElroy. KWWL-TV was put on the air in 1953.
In 2002, KWWL made the leap into the modern age and switched to digital television. Three years later, the station offered secondary digital sub-channels.
In late 2009, KWWL made the next step in digital transition by remodeling their facility to begin high-definition news broadcasts. April 12, 2010, saw the first HD newscast in eastern Iowa.
