About ACE Method
ACE is an acronym for: Analyze, Correct, and Empower. It’s the broad terms for the approach I take when working with athletes. I’m naturally scientific, technical and detailed about coaching so I automatically want start by detecting any bad habits or natural tendencies that an athlete might have and then correct them. This is the method that I have developed:
Analyze
I want to look at the complete picture to determine a starting point:
Technique-I use slow-motion video analysis as a starting point
Natural speed, strength and power
Current training plan
Nutrition
Correct
After completing the analysis, I then target the areas that need to improve and I teach the athlete better methods. We typically start with drills to correct technique because that is the fastest way to make improvements in speed- sometimes in minutes! I also coach them on changes to make in their training and nutrition strategies.
Empower
Once I have coached the athletes on proper techniques and given them their new training plan, it’s time to get to work.
