In the 1980s, Rudy Tops' passion for food and technology was the breeding ground for the invention of a unique way to sterilise single portion meals, using a new microwave technology. His company, Tops Foods NV was founded in 1993 in Belgium and was the first company ever to employ this microwave technology for sterilization of ready meals in the food processing industry. Production began in 1996 and the proprietary microwave technology was patented across the world in 2002. Tops Foods only uses the finest ingredients to create innovative and tasty ready-made dishes. We carefully consider each detail of every meal, from simple raw foodstuffs to straightforward packaging. And we abide by the strictest standards not only as laid down by international bodies, but also by our own ethical code of conduct, our respect for nature and our adherence to the highest levels of food safety. In 2014 Charoen Pokphand Foods (CP Foods), Thailand’s largest agribusiness company, established a joint venture with Tops Foods. As a subsidiary of CP Foods, Tops Foods has access to a vast range of authentic Asian recipes and to the international commercial network of CP Foods, offering great opportunities for further growth.
