Lunds & Byerlys is a company filled with family traditions and values that can be traced back three generations. Its reputation of providing extraordinary food, exceptional service and passionate expertise can be contributed to the standards set by its founder, Russell T. Lund.
Today, Lunds & Byerlys continues to grow under the guidance of its president and CEO, Russell T. Lund III (Tres), grandson of founder Russell T. Lund. In April 1997, Lunds acquired a local friendly competitor called Byerly’s Inc., which was founded by Don Byerly in 1968. The marriage of the two companies is considered an industry success story as both entities maintained separate identities under one parent umbrella while managing to successfully combine their service-oriented philosophies. In 2015, the separate “Lunds” and “Byerly’s” store brands were combined under one unified name: Lunds & Byerlys.
“We have built a strong working and shopping experience because of our extended family of employees, which includes more than 55,000 people throughout our 75-year history, with nearly 4,000 working here today,” Tres Lund said. “And we’re absolutely committed to continuing our tradition of being dedicated to quality, service, innovation and growth.”
There are 29 Lunds & Byerlys grocery stores, two production facilities and a distribution center in the Twin Cities and surrounding area.
