Founded by Thich Nhat Hanh, the Plum Village Community of Engaged Buddhism is the legally recognized governance body for Plum Village in France, European Institute of Applied Buddhism in Germany, Blue Cliff Monastery in New York, Deer Park Monastery in California, Magnolia Grove Monastery in Mississippi, and for Parallax Press.
The Plum Village Community of Engaged Buddhism, Inc., a non-profit corporation, was founded in 1998 to officially represent Thich Nhat Hanh and his Sangha in the United States of America. It is a sister organization of Unified Buddhist Church (Eglise Bouddhique Unifieé) founded in France. Our name changed from Unified Buddhist Church, Inc. in 2017.
Plum Village Community of Engaged Buddhism, Inc. is qualified by the IRS as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization.
