World Film Collective runs filmmaking workshops using mobile phones with young people who live in poverty and deprivation around the world.
*Mission*
World Film Collective teaches simple and sustainable filmmaking to marginalised young people around the world, giving them the freedom to represent themselves to a global audience, and the knowledge and skills to do this using 21st century technology.
Objectives
1.To give marginalised young people the skills and confidence to make films.
2.To guide these young people towards further education, training and employment.
3.To work with a network of organisations and workshop tutors, sharing knowledge and expertise
4.To harness the potential of the internet for film education, cultural exchange and creative interaction.
Why World Film Collective
World Film Collective reaches young people in their own environment, uses equipment that is sustainable, accessible and affordable, does not charge the young people to participate, and provides a point of communication for students to continue the workshop experience online through our innovative online platform new-shoots.net. The organisation is dedicated to the progressive use of new media, and maximising its potential to help young, marginalised people access the digital revolution and benefit from the economic opportunities it provides.
