Our Mission
The mission of the INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF LOUISIANA is to provide a challenging education emphasizing French or Spanish language immersion, international awareness, the celebration of diversity and community responsibility.
Named “2007 Charter School of the Year” by the Washington, D.C.-based Center for Education Reform, THE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF LOUISIANA (ISL) was founded in 2000 as a tuition-free, public school open to any child in the State of Louisiana. The only public school of its kind in the United States, ISL embraces the unique culture, ethnic diversity and historical significance of New Orleans. By respecting their past, ISL prepares its students for the diverse and challenging marketplace of the 21st century.
Our Program
Currently a kindergarten through eighth grade program, ISL's goal is to provide a rigorous public education - on par with the nation’s leading schools - in French or Spanish language immersion.
Our Vision for the Future…
The vision begins with continued growth. ISL began operations in 2000 with just two kindergarten classes: one in French and one in Spanish. We have added four additional kindergarten classes each year, and in 2008 became a complete Kindergarten through Eighth Grade institution. As we grow we will continue to build on our academic success.
