The Barossa is Australia’s most famous wine region and is believed to have the oldest continually bearing Shiraz vines in the world.
Thankfully it has also been Simon ‘Sorby’ Adams’ home since 1980. Sorby Adams Wines is a family brand (Anna Louisa Sorby married Augustus Crichton Adams in the early 1800s in Hertfordshire and has been our family name ever since) and the family are proud to produce wines that showcase their heritage as well as their sense of place in the esteemed Barossa Valley.
Sorby Adams Wines is based on the philosophy that great wines are made in the vineyard. Winemaker Simon Adams sources fruit from vineyards high in the Barossa Hills and also from a selection of wonderful growers around the Barossa. Sorby Adams places enormous emphasis on careful tending of vines with minimal intervention ensuring that they have access to the highest quality fruit.
Simon's wine cred stems from more than 40 years working with some of Australia's leading labels including as chief winemaker at Yalumba and Dorrien Estate. His skills are shown off through drops such as the Morticia Sparkling Shiraz and The Thing Old Vine Shiraz.
Wines are personally crafted to reflect the European style which allows the wine’s character to shine through, optimising fruit and enhancing longevity.
