I’m a criminal lawyer. I represent adults and young persons, many of who are Indigenous or vulnerable defendants, in proceedings before the criminal courts, (trials and appeals) as well as related inquests, public inquiries or tribunals such as the Ontario Review Board or Parole Board. My law practise also incudes the representation of others with significant interests in the proceedings including complainants and victims of crime.
Apart from that, I’m a founding director of Innocence Canada, a non-profit organization that has done so much to identify and seek justice for defendants convicted of crimes that they did not commit and I’m involved in a number of justice system reform initiatives regarding the rights of Indigenous Peoples and individuals with mental illnesses. You can often catch me speaking at legal education conferences, schools or community events.
