The non-partisan Center for Applied Environmental Law and Policy (CAELP) seeks to further innovation in environmental law and policy so that it can best serve its purpose—protecting individuals, communities, and natural systems from environmental threats and making the often hidden costs of environmental harms visible and salient.
Through the thoughtful development and consistent enforcement of environmental laws and policies, we have made important progress in mitigating different types of environmental threats. We have also learned a great deal about how to make environmental laws and policies more efficient and more effective. Today, however, we face enormous challenges that threaten our safety and wellbeing and demand all of our ingenuity and insight—climate change foremost among these.
CAELP works to support the development and implementation of environmental law so that it can help us meet these challenges, and do so as effectively and efficiently as possible.
