"Rossier" rhymes with "career"!
The mission of the USC Rossier School of Education (pronounced “ross-EAR”) is to prepare leaders to achieve educational equity through practice, research and policy. We work to improve learning opportunities and outcomes in urban settings and to address disparities that affect historically marginalized groups. We teach our students to value and respect the cultural context of the communities in which they work and to interrogate the systems of power that shape policies and practices. Through innovative thinking and research, we strive to solve the most intractable educational problems.
The Rossier School of Education is part of the University of Southern California, one of the world’s leading private research universities. We are located in the heart of Los Angeles, one of the most exciting and dynamic American cities and a unique global hub in the Pacific Rim. This offers students a rich urban environment in which to learn, as well as many international opportunities for research and study. At USC, students come from all 50 states and 110 other countries, including more than 5,000 international students each academic year. USC Rossier students also bring a diversity of perspectives informed both by age and by work and life experience.
The school offers exceptional Master’s programs both on campus and online, an internationally recognized EdD geared for practitioners, a Global EdD for preparing international education leaders, and a rigorous PhD program in urban education policy. The school also offers professional development programs and an affiliated Language Academy for immersive English language instruction.
Because of our leadership work in urban education here and around the world we are preparing the finest educators to succeed in any and ALL educational circumstances.
