“GerrisBoats” (name come from the water strider insect, that glides on lacunal water surfaces) is a startup based on an innovative variable mode hull.
Its design is made of a submerged body for low drag, efficiency and low wave formation at low speed, foils to make the boat “flying” and a system of side mobile hulls, adjustable in their position.
More in deep this concept boat and hull (designed full electric with hydrogen variants, safely stored in the submerged body) offers:
- low drag, especially at low and medium speeds, if compared with traditional hulls, and then offers greater electric operation range
- reduced wave formation, especially at low speed, not only when foiling and flying, so it has a great advantage and environment friendliness when used in protected waters
- superior, high energy roll motion stabilization
- adjustable platform/deck height
These last two features are essentials for a truly accessible water taxi application.
