The Virginia Beach Police Department is internationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. The department serves a community of 440,000 residents and 3 million annual tourists. Virginia Beach encompasses 307 square miles including 38 miles of the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean beaches. Our officers provide service in four precincts, special operations (canine, mounted, marine, aviation, SWAT,etc.), special investigations (vice and narcotics) and the detective bureau.
