SBU, the Swedish Agency for Health Technology Assessment and Assessment of Social Services, was established in 1987 by the Swedish Government and has the mandate to comprehensively assess healthcare technology from medical, economic, ethical, and social standpoints. Scientific assessment in health care aims to identify interventions that offer the greatest benefits for patients while utilizing resources in the most efficient way. SBU aims to compile unbiased, scientifically based assessment reports to support decision making in health care, ensuring good and equal health care for the entire population.
