Blackfella Films was established in 1992 to create innovative and high quality indigenous screen productions. They combine professionalism with a culturally sensitive approach to ensure suitability of productions for both community and commercial audiences. Blackfella Films is an independent company, but maintains strong links with the Indigenous production sector through it’s participation in the associations, Indigenous Screen Australia and the Australian Indigenous Communications Association.
Blackfella Films integrates a niche exhibition outlet for Indigenous content through the annual Message Sticks Indigenous Film Festival and Tour and an online directory of Indigenous media and arts called The Black Book.
