The Center for Economic Research and Graduate Education - Economics Institute / CERGE-EI is a joint educational and research institution established by Charles University in Prague and the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.
Research Papers in Economics (RePEc) has ranked CERGE-EI in the top 5 percent of economic departments/research institutions worldwide. CERGE-EI offers U.S. style PhD in Economics and Master in Economic Research degrees taught entirely in English.
The PhD in Economics is a rigorous program designed for outstanding students interested in pursuing an academic career or entering a high-level position in an international organization, central bank, government ministry or in the private sector. After 2 years of MA-level course work, students graduate with a U.S. MA in Economics degree and continue with two or more years of dissertation research. They often conduct part of their research at top US and Western European Universities and a majority of them receive a tuition waiver and a living stipend. Graduates receive both U.S. and Czech doctoral degrees.
The Master in Economic Research is a 2-year western-style program designed for students interested in applied economic research and public policy. The aim of this program is to prepare students for their careers in public policy institutions (central banks, ministries, and government advisory bodies), international organizations, think-tanks, and private sector companies. Graduates receive a Czech degree fully accredited by Charles University.
