American Book Company (ABC), established in 1997, has built its reputation as a premier wholesale Bargain Book distributor by forging strong, long-standing partnerships with top global publishers. This foundation has allowed ABC to maintain a consistent and reliable supply of books while offering innovative value-added services that cater to the unique needs of its clients. Over the years, ABC has also expanded its service offerings to include third-party logistics for retailers across various industries, both within and beyond the publishing sector.
In December 2021, ABC joined forces with Book Depot, a prominent Canadian company based in Thorold, Ontario. This strategic acquisition was a natural progression for both companies, which had enjoyed a friendly business relationship for many years. The merger has allowed them to combine their expertise and resources, setting the stage for even greater accomplishments. While Book Depot continues to focus on its Direct-to-Consumer and Wholesale operations, ABC has maintained its commitment to Retail Distribution and is now on a path to becoming North America’s largest Book Returns processing center.
ABC operates from its corporate headquarters in Knoxville, Tennessee, with a state-of-the-art Distribution Center spanning over 900,000 square feet in Jefferson City, Tennessee. The company is known for its ability to provide customized solutions for merchandising Bargain Books, including the design and execution of promotional programs and a variety of display options such as PDQs, Floor Stands, and Full Pallet Treasure Bins.
In addition to its core services, ABC excels in reverse logistics, offering tailored programs for returns processing, recycling, and refurbishment. Their advanced technological capabilities include Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), a dynamic Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system launched in 2020, and a sophisticated Warehouse Management System (WMS) that ensures fast, accurate order fulfillment.
