Church Ministries International serves as a catalyst for urban churches toward strategic planning, partnerships, leadership training, resourcing and other ministries that address the goal of evangelizing and discipling entire nations.
CMI is an evangelical, interdenominational, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to equipping urban churches in Latin America evangelize their city and nation. We work with teams of missionaries and pastors of various evangelical churches who have the vision and commitment to carry on a concentrated program of evangelism, discipleship and church planting. We assist them with program strategy, facilities and other necessary tools, helping to make missionaries and pastors many times more effective. Since 1973, using the same methodology, CMI has seen thousands of people make decisions for Christ and many large churches established.
Although initiated by The LeTourneau Foundation, the ministry soon outgrew those resources. To meet the need, Roy LeTourneau and Kenn Opperman (a former missionary to Peru) co-founded an organization to meet the new challenge. Originally called Church Planting International, the name was later changed to LeTourneau Ministries International. Today, the work initiated by LMI is carried on under the banner of Church Ministries International.
