We're Waterloo Region's first dedicated Float Centre with multiple float tanks. We're here to help you explore the wonderful benefits of float tanks (also known as sensory deprivation tanks). Float tanks are filled with 10 inches of water that is supersaturated with 950lb of epsom salts, forcing you to float. That water is heated to your skin's temperature, so that after 10 minutes, your skin's nerve endings can no longer distinguish between your body, the air, and the water. You have been deprived of your sense of touch. By floating in the dark in a soundproof room, you are also deprived of senses of sight and sound. That is when the magic happens. Now, away from your usual noisy world, your brain slows down to a Theta brainwave state. You are now extremely relaxed in your quiet world but, at the same time, you are intensely awake. For The Professional, floating powerfully decreases your cortisol levels while also releasing endorphins. So chronic stress seeps away and you relax your way into a rejuvenated level of well-being. You step out of the float tank more resilient. But there's so much more. The Theta State allows you to concentrate with intense focus, while being hyper-suggestible. That's great for quick learning of multiple facts in preparation for important meetings, upcoming tests, exams and audits. Deprived of so much of your normal sensory input, floating helps you visualize. Professional speakers can prepare their speaking engagements, just as athletes can visualize difficult moves, thereby improving their skills. And you can explore other benefits: heightened senses; healing of injuries due to the absence of gravity; pain management; enhanced creativity through brain synchronization; and deeper meditative states. So, whether you are a professional, a student, an athlete, a cultural creative, or just someone optimizing their health, become a member.
