OUR VISION:
We envision Greater New Orleans as a hub of civic-minded individuals that take action through service to meet critical community needs. Our job is to create opportunities and mobilize volunteers that can help us achieve our goal of a more equitable and resilient New Orleans.
OUR WORK:
Born out of Hurricane Katrina, HandsOn specializes in disaster management. In Southeast Louisiana, this means we respond to not only hurricanes and other natural disasters but also phenomena such as the COVID-19 pandemic. We develop programs personalized to the disaster to have the greatest impact.
OUR IMPACT:
Since March of 2006 over HandsOn New Orleans Volunteers have:
-Completed repairs on over 400 homes
-Trained over 700 Volunteer Leaders
-Engaged over 15,404 volunteers in 535,004 hours of service
-Contributed over 54,315 hours in 37 schools
-Collected and distributed $3M of donations to hurricane survivors
-Delivered over 800,000 meals (and counting!) to homebound seniors since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic
