Portsmouth Football Club were formed in 1898 and have always played their home matches at Fratton Park.
Known as Pompey, the club became an original member of the Football League’s Division Three in 1920 and won promotion twice to reach Division One in 1927.
Pompey remained in the top flight for 32 years, winning the First Division Championship in 1949 and 1950. They won the FA Cup in 1939, beating Wolves 4-1, and were runners-up in 1929 and 1934.
The club dropped down the divisions but returned for a season in Division One in 1987/88. They returned to the top flight in 2003, enjoying seven years in the Premier League.
Pompey won the FA Cup for a second time in 2008, beating Cardiff 1-0, and were runners-up again in 2010.
The club currently competes in Sky Bet League One and is managed by Head Coach John Mousinho.
