The Earthquake Commission (Toka Tū Ake EQC) is New Zealand’s unique response to its geological environment.
Toka Tū Ake EQC provides insurance cover for damage to residential property caused by earthquakes, landslips, volcanic eruptions, hydrothermal activity and tsunamis.
All New Zealanders with home and/or contents insurance automatically receive EQCover.
Other key functions include:
Administering the Natural Disaster Fund, facilitating and supporting research to help build understanding of natural disasters and how to mitigate damage, and implementing education initiatives using school programmes, advertising and collateral.
