Garage Center for Contemporary Culture is a major new international arts center based in Moscow. A non-profit foundation, our aim is to promote the understanding and development of contemporary culture in Russia and serve as a catalyst and meeting point for the city’s emerging arts scene.
As well as presenting a progressive program of exhibitions by established and emerging international artists, we host special on-site events including talks, film screenings, performances, and creative activities for children. With our café and late events, we also provide a new social space for participation and exploration.
We occupy the 8,500 sq m site of a masterpiece of 20th-century Russian architecture – the former Bakhmetevsky Bus Garage, designed in 1926 by the Constructivist architect Konstantin Melnikov.
Through Garage Projects, our programming extends beyond the space in Moscow to engage in interactive activities in other sites all over the world.
