Volunteers Colombia is a non-profit organization founded in 2009 by a group of Colombian entrepreneurs passionate about quality education for all.
Our pilot program brought four native English-speaking volunteers to public schools in the Santa Ana community on the Island of Barú. We have since hosted more than 2,500 volunteers from around the world to work directly with nearly 500,000 Colombian students and educators in public and private schools in over 60 cities throughout the country.
Our volunteers bring engaging opportunities for language immersion and cultural exchange to Colombian classrooms, supporting and supplementing the work of experienced local staff through our co-teaching model. We are proud to be one of the pioneer organizations focused on volunteer programming as a tool to develop bilingualism and are excited for continued growth.
