Schechter, a Jewish community day school in the Greater Hartford area, offers an exceptional, forward-thinking, student-centered education from early childhood through eighth grade. We inspire students to love learning, celebrate Jewish life, connect to each other, and build a vibrant future for themselves and their community in a joyful, challenging, and creative environment.
Founded in 1971, Schechter continues to provide an integrated curriculum in General and Judaic Studies, creating lifelong learners, critical thinkers and passionate leaders who are connected and committed to the Jewish community and the world at large.
Schechter enrolls students from the age of two until the end of eighth grade in three divisions: Early Childhood (from ages two through Kindergarten), Elementary (first through fourth grade), and Middle (fifth through eighth grade).
Welcoming students of diverse social, cultural, religious and economic backgrounds, we are dedicated to providing individual attention to each student and educating the whole child, intellectually, spiritually, socially and physically. Our intimate environment allows our outstanding faculty to provide individualized attention and guidance. The faculty works in close partnership with parents by promoting regular communication, classroom involvement and family learning experiences. Schechter parents are involved in every aspect of school life, creating a strong sense of community.
Solomon Schechter is located on its beautiful Buena Vista campus in West Hartford. The facilities are air conditioned and include classrooms with networked computers and Smart boards, science lab, art and music studios; small group learning spaces; a computer room, gymnasium, theater, multipurpose room and outdoor playgrounds and athletic fields. An innovative MakerSpace is currently under construction.
