The Mediterranean Sea and Coast Foundation (MEDSEA) is a non-profit organization created on May 8, 2015 in the city of Cagliari, in Sardinia (Italy). MEDSEA aims at the protection of marine areas and coastal ecosystems and the conservation of cultural heritage according to the principles of sustainable development. Beyond the semantic definition, and the trivialization of the concept of sustainable development, we simply want to work "with" and "for" those who, like us, think that it is always possible to advance, think and rethink the way of acting and interacting together to contribute to the human, economic, ecological and cultural development of all. Despite its short life, the Foundation has developed strong relationships with national/international private companies (MSC Cruises, Castalia, IED), international organizations (World Bank, UNEP-MAP, WWF, MedPan, MedWet, etc.) and public entities (Italian Ministry of the Environment, Sao Tome and Principe Government, Conservatoire du Littoral, APAL and various Mediterranean governments, regions and Municipalities) and it has a solid and wide in-depth expertise in conservation, environmental management, sustainable development, climate change and environmental education and communication. Furthermore, owing to its large international network, the Foundation ensures a high visibility to the project through various measures and practices to facilitate the transferability of the project activities and results to other sea basins or regions of the EU, and overseas, that deal with similar challenges.
