GATC Inc., is a US holding company that invests and manages startup enterprises focused on advanced applications in software engineering, biotechnology, and renewal energy.
Prior investments included businesses focused on developing advanced technologies and applications for secure mobile data communications, managed mobility and asset tracking, and medical devices.
The medical device business, with primary operations in Central Europe, developed into a leading provider of hospital grade applications for ICU monitoring, antepartum & intrapartum fetal monitoring with telemetry, and advanced imaging systems based on x-ray and ultrasound technologies. These businesses were acquired under NDA in 2008 by a German private equity group focused on medical device applications.
The secure mobile data communications businesses developed advanced software products and technologies used to manage and secure wireless mobile data communications across private and public networks, control the flow of data transactions between mobile devices and enterprise applications, and automate the management of enterprise mobile computing systems. These combined businesses were acquired in 2010 by Intermec Technologies Corp., a Honeywell company.
The managed mobility and asset tracking solutions business developed specialized applications for the deskless worker and industry specific solutions used to identify, track and manage supply chain assets. Customers licensing these solutions included industry leaders such as Procter and Gamble, Philips Morris, Coca Cola, SAB Miller, Pepsi, Kraft Foods, Johnson and Johnson, GlaxoSmithKline, and many other leading companies in the global fast-moving consumer goods and pharmaceutical markets. This business was acquired in 2012 as part of a spin-off to Zetes Industries S.A., a Panasonic Corporation.
