As the Law Association for Asia and the Pacific, LAWASIA represents an international membership of peak legal societies, as well as individual judges, lawyers and jurists. LAWASIA focuses on the interests and concerns of legal professionals in the Asia Pacific, and supports their participation in the world's most dynamic economic region. Since its inception in 1966, LAWASIA has built an enviable reputation among lawyers, businesses and governments, both within and outside the region, as a proactive and genuinely representative organisation. LAWASIA's governing body, the LAWASIA Council, is comprised of representatives from peak legal bodies across the Asia Pacific. As such, its policies and agenda directly address issues confronting the regional profession.
