University Heights is an historic inner ring suburb in the heart of the east side of Greater Cleveland. We are located ten minutes east of University Circle, the scientific, medical, and cultural center of Northeastern Ohio.
Our city’s namesake, John Carroll University, it one of twenty-eight Jesuit universities in the United States. JCU is a leader in undergraduate and graduate education, our city’s largest employer, and an asset to the region.
As one of the three longest running Tree City USA cities in the Cuyahoga County, our tree lined streets and urban canopy have been recognized as leading the region for the past forty years.
We offer the best attributes of urban living in a suburban setting. Our streets are quiet, our neighborhoods are walkable and bikeable, our neighbors are friendly. City amenities include an outdoor pool, tennis courts, a public park with modern playgrounds and a multi-purpose perimeter path. We hold summer events including the oldest and largest Memorial Day parade on the east side of Cleveland, a summer concert series, yoga in the park, among others. We share a public school district and library system with Cleveland Heights . Our “new” high school retains the best features of early twentieth century classical architecture while containing the contemporary features of the newest leading public schools, certain to nurture our budding artists, scientists, and athletes. Our private schools offer the best in private and parochial education. Leaders in all fields are graduates of our public and private schools.
For decades we were known as The City of Homes, then The City of Beautiful Homes. As you look around our city today, you will see why University Heights is So Much More than Home.
Welcome to University Heights!
Sincerely yours,
Mayor Michael Dylan Brennan
