Cape York Employment (CYE) is the Community Development Programme (CDP) provider in Aurukun and Coen (Region 60). CYE was established in 2013 and has delivered a community – orientated program that prepares job seekers for work while contributing to the goals of the community. CYE tailors a package of assistance for each job seeker based on their individual needs and readiness for employment and supports them to realise their goals and aspirations. Due to the huge success of CYE in Aurukun and Coen, CYE was awarded the contract for Lockhart River in June 2019. With Cape York Employment expanding their program, further improvement and design was required to support local communities through the development and application of local solutions, these communities driven outcomes needed to be responsive to support future employment opportunities. Cape York Employment recognises the limited opportunities currently available within the Cape York economy and also seek work readiness and employment in areas beyond the Cape, by encouraging job seekers to attain employment outside of their community. Cape York Employment work closely with the National Indigenous Australians Agency to ensure that we are building a program that benefits our communities, from Community Driven Solutions.
