Shenzhen research institute of big data (SRIBD) is established with the approval of Shenzhen Municipal People's Government and is of an independent legal personality of the two types of institutions. SRIBD's establishment relies on the Peacock team under Shenzhen Municipal Science and Technology Innovation Committee. It is committed to the establishment of world-class big data research and development centre, to maximize the utilization of the rich data resources of the National Supercomputing Center in Shenzhen, Shenzhen municipal governments and the local enterprises. It is also committed to the establishment of world-class big data public service platform, in precision medical, future communications, green transport, intelligent city and and other aspects, to make contribution to Shenzhen, Guangdong and China's scientific research, industrial development and government decision. SRIBD is located in the campus of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) in Longgang District, Shenzhen. The team is composed of world-renowned data scientists and has extensive experience in information processing, data analysis and industrial cooperation. The scientists include academicians, thousands of people planning experts, Jie Qing, Pearl River scholars and so on. Team members all have doctoral degree, overseas study experience, and high achievement in the optimization of theory and algorithm design, machine learning, large-scale data processing, statistical signal processing and other fields. SRIBD and the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) has an agreement on joint training postgraduate and undergraduate students of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen). The relevant students will be directly involved in the research projects under SRIBD.
