The Financial Superintendence of Colombia arose from the merger of the Banking Superintendency of Colombia into the Superintendency of Securities, as established in article 1 of Decree 4327 of 2005. The entity is a technical body attached to the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, with legal status, administrative and financial autonomy and equity.
Its mission is to preserve public confidence and the stability of the financial system; maintain the integrity, efficiency and transparency of the stock market and other financial assets; and ensure respect for the rights of financial consumers and due service provision.
