Sogin is an Italian state-owned Company. It is responsible for the environmental decontamination of Italy's nuclear sites and for the management of radioactive waste generated by research, nuclear medicine and industrial activities. In addition to the four nuclear power plants in Trino, Caorso, Latina and Garigliano and the FN plant in Bosco Marengo, Sogin also manages the decontamination of the former Enea research centres in Saluggia, Casaccia and Rotondella. In 2019 Sogin was entrusted with the decommissioning of the Ispra-1 reactor, located in the Joint Research Center (JRC) in Ispra (Varese).
Sogin also responsible for the siting, building and operations of the Technology Park, that will encompass the National Repository of radioactive waste, a surface structure in which all radioactive waste will be kept in safety.
