Katapult Theatre is known for its, at times controversial, but always meaningful text born contemporary drama. Its goal is to make the playgoer connect directly to the performance and furthermore, to engage in what is happening in society in general.
On stage, you can experience unique house productions, as well as the very best plays from the developing world of theatre.
Katapult Theatre presents 15-20 socially relevant and thought-provoking guest performances, 1-2 own productions and a row of other arrangements with storytelling as the main focus.
Whether it´s comedy or StorySlam, the focus is on the narrative and on intimacy and authenticity. Katapult Theatre has existed since the mid-'90s and arose from a wish to treat current themes from the world that surrounds us; kickstart debates, wake afterthought and to short circuit the audiences habitual chain of thought.
That's why Katapult from its inception has been a literary theatre with a focus on the text that is the foundation of modern performing arts.
Out of that focus, evolve projects like DramatikerLab and WriterDirector Lab. Own productions of the theatre are often examples of what the local performing art milieu can achieve when there is an investment in synergism from the early beginning.
