Box Butte General Hospital is a Critical Access Hospital with 25-beds for all patient types - acute, observation, swing, intensive care and OB, with a staff of over 260 employees providing a variety of services.
BBGH is accredited by The Joint Commission, the nation's predominant standards-setting and accrediting body in health care since 1951 and is a designated basic level trauma center.
The active medical staff is comprised of a balance of physicians and non-physician providers (physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and nurse anesthetists) to serve the primary healthcare needs of Box Butte County and beyond. Additionally, BBGH offers a variety of outpatient specialty services through its Multi-Specialty Clinic. Current specialties offered include: Cardiology; ENT; General Surgery; Gynecology; Dermatology; Oncology; Ophthalmology; Orthopedic Surgery; Oral Surgery; Urology; Behavioral Health; Podiatry; and Neurology.
The Hospital also has four Greater Nebraska Medical & Surgical Services (GNMSS) clinics. Two of them are in the Medical Arts Plaza in Alliance: Family Medicine and Orthopedic Surgery & Sports Medicine. Two satellite GNMSS clinics are located in Hemingford and Hyannis: the Hemingford Clinic and the Hyannis Clinic (located in the Cow Country Health Center).
