From our beginnings as a merger of three existing departments—Operations Research, Industrial Engineering-Engineering Management, and Engineering-Economic Systems—we have become one of the most respected Management Science and Engineering departments in the world. The department’s mission is, through education and research, to create solutions to pressing societal problems by integrating and pushing the frontiers of operations research, economics, and organization science. The department’s engineering research strength is integrated with its educational program at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels. Graduates of MS&E programs are trained as engineers and future leaders in technology, policy, and industry.
