Words in the Wild offers strengths-based literacy programs to children and the adults who teach and love them. Our approach develops confidence and critical thinking by sparking innate curiosity — kids become scientists who investigate words in the same ways that they’d investigate the details of a leaf or a butterfly.
We teach reading through a structured literacy approach that emphasizes morphology (heavily informed by Structured Word Inquiry; see Bowers, 2010).
Our core services are programs for children and families, training opportunities like Summer Institute and WordLab Teaching Fellowships, and resource development.
Words in the Wild is is actively seeking additional funding and programming partners in order to reach more learners at low- or no-cost. We are a non-profit organization (501(c)(3).
