AAC Optics brings innovation to image capture user experiences. We design and manufacture Wafer Level Glass (WLG) lenses, plastic lenses, hybrid lenses, actuators, and modules. Together with algorithms, and image quality testing and tuning, we create integrated imaging solutions for the naked eye as well as machine vision and computational imaging.
AAC Optics was founded in 2008, and the first lens was mass produced in 2009. Additional lens design expertise was also acquired to further support our efforts to grow into a major optics provider. In 2010 we invested in Kaleido Technology, providers of ultra-precise optical technologies, and subsequently completed a full acquisition to merge innovation with mass production. Today Wafer Level Glass solutions are coming to market, further enhancing image quality for end users. The transition from plastic lenses to glass-plastic hybrid lenses, allows for greater optical design freedom, and the ability to capture finer details together with improved low light performance and better thermal stability. Wafer Level Glass is expected to bring a new era in imaging capture innovation, benefiting an entire industry, and stretching well beyond smartphones into a range of new applications.
Our actuator and module development has followed in the footsteps of our lenses, bringing in novel actuator expertise and setting up world-class manufacturing facilities. Imaging algorithms are developed and applied for both manufacturing optimization as well as final image quality tuning.
AAC Optics today employs more than 650 R&D optics experts as well as extensive optics manufacturing talent across multiple facilities to delivering our solutions globally for use in smart devices and automotive.
