Dongfeng Cummins Engine Co. Ltd. (DCEC) was a 50:50 joint venture company established between Dongfeng Motor Corporation (DFM) and Cummins Inc. (USA) in June 1996. After capital expansion in April 2003, Dongfeng Cummins Engine Co. Ltd. became an entity, combining the assets and business of the Diesel Engine Branch Company of Dongfeng Automobile Co. Ltd. (DFAC), Cummins wholly owned Cummins (Xiangfan) Machining Co. Ltd. and the former C series engine JV between DFAC & Cummins. The registered capital of the expanded DCEC is over USD 100 Million. DFAC & Cummins hold 50% share each respectively. DFM is one of the largest manufacturer of commercial vehicle & passenger vehicle in China. Cummins is a leading company in product development, design, manufacturing and sales of diesel and CNG engines in the world. DCEC will benefit from strong support from Cummins in product development, manufacturing, quality, management to continuously increase its competitiveness. Through a rolling technology introduction strategy, the product development of the company will be eventually synchronized with American & European markets, significantly increasing the technology level of medium to heavy duty diesel engines of China. With the introduced electronic control engine platform, the technical center owned by the company can design, develop and test engines specifically to meet diversified customer needs according to the local requirements in China.
