IDG brings a multidisciplinary sensibility to the task of engineering structures. We recognized early on that a building is not simply a collection of engineered systems. A building exists within a cultural and financial framework that must yield to practical considerations, including the construction process, and yet still achieve environmental and aesthetic goals. Over the years we have gained expertise in the design of manufacturing and testing facilities serving tech, aerospace and military clients. The firm as a whole, however, is built around serving multiple sectors including commercial, entertainment, healthcare and multifamily. Additionally, we have performed seismic evaluations and retrofit designs of large-scale existing buildings and structures. IDG, since its inception, has relied on 3-dimensional modeling using Autodesk Revit to produce construction documents. Revit allows us to work effectively within the BIM delivery system on design-build construction projects and to integrate with Navisworks and fabrication platforms. Our staff is experienced in a wide range of analytical techniques from basic Building Code approaches to linear and nonlinear dynamic analyses, allowing us to apply the appropriate method for a specific project. The economies of strengthening existing structures often make sophisticated analytical tools necessary when undertaking seismic evaluations and retrofit design and can often be necessary to find a practical solution.
