GmbH, the name being the German legal term of a limited company similar to Inc. or Ltd., was founded in Berlin by Serhat Isik and Benjamin A. Huseby in 2016, as a project to use the medium of fashion to respond to current events in the world.
Drawing on personal experiences as children of immigrants in Europe, GmbH quickly gained a cult following for its brutalist silhouettes, cut to both enhance and protect the body, unapologetically intertwined with politics, our heritage and multicultural community.
From migration, ecology and club culture, GmbH engages with global topics through our own lived experiences.
At the core of GmbH is storytelling using the craft of garment making.
GmbH is listed in the BoF500 and was in its first year nominated to the LVMH prize and won critical acclaim from Vogue (US and Paris), BoF, New York Times, WWD and Dazed. GmbH is currently stocked by 50+ of the most influential retailers in the world.
GmbH has been an environmentally and socially responsible label since the start. The first collections were made entirely from materials that would otherwise go to waste. As the collections have grown, about 90% of our materials now fulfill our Environmental Policy goals of being organic, recycled, upcycled, dead stock or biodegradable.
