The Apama business and technology was acquired by Progress Software in 2005, and subsequently transferred into the ownership of Software AG in 2012.
Apama provided next-generation Trading Strategy Management technologies which allowed traders to instantly and continuously analyse, evaluate and respond to market events. Combined with Apama's dashboard technology - providing real-time reporting of traders' positions, VaR, and exposure - Apama was a platform that offered unparalleled flexibility and dynamic interaction with live strategies.
Founded in 1999 by Dr. John Bates and Dr. Giles Nelson , Apama was based upon an entirely new way of looking at the complex problems of analysing and acting upon data in real-time. Traditionally, data is stored and then analysed; Apama removed the need to store data (and thus the associated latency) and allowed data to stream through whilst simultaneously being able to calculate analytics, inject new strategies and interact with the data stream in a temporally-aware manner.
Apama (when independent) was head quartered in Cambridge, UK, and also had offices in Reading, UK, and New York City, USA.
