The Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) is the national voice of Canada’s planning profession, working on behalf of over 8,000 planning professionals. Since 1919, CIP has been dedicated to the advancement of responsible planning throughout Canada. In its capacity as the national professional institute for the planning profession, CIP addresses the issues of professional standards and public policy, both domestically and globally, related to planning and planning related issues.
Planning addresses the use of land, resources, facilities, and services in ways that secure the physical, economic and social efficiency, health and well-being of urban and rural communities. Our members work in both the public service and the private sector, across fields such as land-use planning, environmental resource management, land development, heritage conservation, social planning, transportation planning, and economic development.
