The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) is the professional body and trade union physiotherapists in the UK. Founded in 1894, the CSP has grown to become the profession's largest membership organisation. CSP’s 64,000 membership is made up of a range of physiotherapy professionals: Physiotherapy students; Qualified physiotherapists; Retired physiotherapists; Associate members who are support workers and other professionals whose work involves some delegated physiotherapy duties. CSP members work in a variety of settings across the NHS, in the community, private practice and sports. The CSP is a progressive, dynamic, member-led organisation. As a professional body the CSP aims to develops and promotes high quality and innovative patient care, the profile of the profession and influence the care agenda. We provide a range of professional services, promotes learning and good practice, and supports its members achieve continuous professional development (CPD). The CSP also supports research into physiotherapy through the CSP Charitable Trust which funds the Physiotherapy Research Foundation. As a trade union the CSP represents the interests of its members in the workplace. It is an affiliated member of the Trades Union Congress (TUC).
