The California Highway Patrol 11-99 Foundation was founded in 1982, by philanthropist Bob Weinberg, to provide emergency financial assistance to California Highway Patrol employees and their families in times of crisis and to provide scholarships to their children. The CHP 11-99 Foundation is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit, charitable organization.
The men and women of the California Highway Patrol dedicate themselves to protecting the citizens and motorists of California every day – even if it means laying down their lives. In the radio code used by CHP dispatchers and officers, “11-99” means “officer needs assistance”. The CHP 11-99 Foundation has provided over $50 million in support to CHP families, including nearly $40 million in scholarships to children of CHP employees and Fallen Heroes.
The 11-99 Foundation supports CHP families through our Fallen Heroes Fund, a scholarship program for children of CHP employees, and special considerations for families struggling to care for loved ones who are injured, ill, or have disabilities. The important work of the Foundation has been enabled through the generosity of tens of thousands of individual donors and volunteers, our membership, annual fundraising events, and institutional grant funding.
