The National Center for Health Research (formerly the National Research Center for Women & Families) promotes the health and safety of women, children, and families, by using objective, research-based information to encourage new, more effective programs and policies. The Center achieves its mission by gathering and analyzing information and translating that information into clearly presented facts and policy implications that are made widely available to the public, the media, and policy makers.
One of the Center's major programs is the Cancer Prevention and Treatment Fund (www.stopcancerfund.org). The Cancer Prevention and Treatment Fund helps children and adults reduce their risks of getting all types of cancer, and assists them in choosing the safest and most effective treatments. We carefully analyze research by scientists around the world, and draw conclusions about the best strategies for preventing and treating cancer. 98 cents of every dollar donated pays for prevention, education, and support for cancer patients.
