Mission Statement: To Improve Self-Suffiency and to Reduce Poverty
As part of the national network of community action agencies (CAAs), the Community Action Committee of Danbury (CACD) has a long history of helping low-income families and individuals overcome poverty and improve self-sufficiency. CACD is one of twelve CAAs in Connecticut and serves Northwestern Fairfield and Litchfield counties. It was established in 1967 and has been providing services to the poor for more than forty years. The agency typically serves over 8,500 low-income individuals or nearly 3,700 low-income families annually throughout its nineteen town service delivery area.
