The Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) is a cabinet-level state agency with primary responsibility for statewide transportation by all modes of travel. MaineDOT employs approximately 1,900 people and expends or disburses more than $600 million per year, including federal, state, and local funds.
MaineDOT’s mission is “To support economic opportunity and quality of life by responsibly provide our customers the safest and most reliable transportation system possible, given available resources.”
Our agency comprises several bureaus and offices: Bureau of Planning, Bureau of Maintenance and Operations, Bureau of Project Development, Results & Information Office, Environmental Office, Legal Office, Contract Procurement Office and others.
