An innovator in the restaurant, retail and hospitality markets, Chipman Design Architecture has its roots in the early 1950s when Albert B. Chipman established one of the first professional practices devoted to commercial planning and design. Forming the architecture firm Chipman Design in 1979, John expanded the business from its initial staff of three and boldly began adding developing computer technology. By the mid 1990s, state-of-the-art computer technology as well as both individual and corporate architectural licensing throughout the United States became the firm’s trademark. National recognition grew along with an impressive list of corporate clients, and in 2004 the firm opened its West Coast office in Pasadena, California. That national expansion continued as offices have opened in New York and Atlanta.
At Chipman Design, the teams across all four offices have an affinity towards creating warm and welcoming environments that are responsive to each individual client. These design solutions are always founded upon the designer’s understanding of the brand’s true DNA. Enhancing this fundamental sensitivity, a thorough investigation of the property’s location and its vernacular allows designers to incorporate local artisans and craftsmanship, infusing community into what ultimately evolves as brand presence. This global experience tells the lifestyle story through a defined sense of detail, interpreted through color, décor, finishes and lighting. Further developed through CDA’s ground-breaking Visualization Studio, CDAVR creates immersive 3D simulations of the client’s physical space, expediting the design process while transporting the client to the future.
Today, the firm’s Principal team offers innovation and professionalism through complete architectural and interior design services, holding licenses throughout the 48 contiguous United States and the District of Columbia, Hawaii and Puerto Rico as well as three Canadian provinces.
